About Phuket Weather

One of the most frequently asked question on blogs and forums is ' How is the weather in Phuket', Sometimes you get "How will the weather be in Phuket in July". Ok... tough one, we almost could answer that. Then you have "How will the weather in Phuket be between the 10 and 22 of July". Don't smile it's true. And best of all: 'Can you guarantee that the weather will be fine when I come in October'.

Truth is there is a rainy season and a hot season, but it has become difficult to really predict when it starts and stops... and even what happens in between. No need to make a short story long, best time to come is December to March, then hot but sunny from March to May, rainy from May to November. All this comes with the usual 'global warming' disclaimer.

Now the real point of this article is not about 'Phuket Weather Forecast' since we can't do much about it anyway. What we can do, is give you some fun ideas for the rainy day!

10 Fun Things to Do in Phuket when it Rains

So it rains, no big deal, make the best of it! This is the day you finally do those things were hesitant to do not to waste a single sunny day.

1) If it rains a little, go to Laem Singh Beach! This little hidden cove used to be secret, but of course everybody wanted so much to see 'THE' secret beach, that it soon became as busy as Patong. But when sky is grey and rains falls a little, everyone runs, the beach takes a new romantic face and is all yours! try it!

2) Explore Phang Nga Bay by SeaCanoe. This tour is amazing with blue sky, but is also great under nice cloudy skies with a bit of rain. It gives a brand new dramatic angle to these famous incredible cliffs!

3) Get a Spa treatment! A long one, at least 2 hours! It will relax you enough to get you in the right mood to sit on your balcony all day, looking at the sea (hopefully you picked a seafront room) and staring at the falling rain with a smile on your face. Most hotels offer such treatments, but you should book early if the rain seems to be here to stay, everyone will decide to do the same thing.

4) Shop at Central Festival Phuket near Phuket Town. With 4 floors now, you'll have plenty to look at, eat and play. Lots of great brands are available now, a large Zara shop, MNG and Guess etc, but also Armani Exchange, CK, Diesel and DKNY...

5) Go to Jungceylon Shopping Mall in Patong, but do all the silly attractions and games! Laser Gun, Shooting Cafe with real bullets in a shopping center, Bowling, 4D cinema, Shell Museum and even the unavoidable Crazy Fish Spa (yes!)

6) Explore old Phuket Town. Walk Thalang Road with an umbrella. Admire these old houses and magnificent mansions, refubished or not. Along the way, you will find plenty of little shops and cafes to find shelter with a coffee and a cake!

7) Go to the Phuket Aquarium in Cape Panwa. It's not very big but colorful and lively, especially enjoyable if you have kids!

8) Try some Thai Boxing! Who knows, you might find yourself a new lifestyle... but be aware, this is serious and very physical, not for the weak or the faint of heart. You will find several in Nai Harn and Rawai areas.

9) Try your hand at Thai Cooking classes, often available in hotels or at Pum's Restaurant on Rat U Thit road, not far from Holiday In in Patong Beach. It's easier than you think, especially since they prepare nicely all the needed ingredients for you.

10) Go to the Museums. This is not my favourite since there are no art museums in Phuket, but if rains last longer than expected, you can always visit the Shell Museum in Rawai, or the 'Tin Mining Museum' in Kathu, located not far from the well known Loch Palm Golf.

Sounds like a very interesting place to visit! I love going to the beach in the rain too. All the tourists scatter, but the sea is still just as beautiful.
